Earnest Hemingray Writes Himself Into the History Books With Angling Trust Zerofit SilverFish Final Win

Despite not catching a fish for the first hour of competition, England international Steve Hemingray dug deep to clinch victory in this year’s Angling Trust Zerofit SilverFish Final after an epic battle with a star-studded cast of anglers at Barston Lakes in the West Midlands.

Zerofit has sponsored the annual competition for two years, with many anglers discovering the performance benefits of the Heatrub Ultimate BaselayerLeggings and Socks, while others prefer the temperature regulation properties of the Heatrub Move Baselayer and Leggings as the tournament - and temperature - heats up.

Operating from Peg 38, Leicester man Steve (pictured) - who employed pole at 13m with maggots over micros - recorded a 68lb 7oz net of skimmers to see off the rest of the field which included nine England internationals, multiple World Champions, Fish O Mania winners and previous victors of the prestigious SilverFish competition.

The victory earned the winner a cool cheque for £5,000, and the crown of champion from more than 400 anglers who took part in 14 nationwide qualifiers that began in October 2023, with 33 reaching the final.

On a relatively mild March day, Dave Wilmott trusted the performance of the Zerofit Heatrub Move Baselayer and Performance Move Hoodie on his way to finishing second, as he netted 65lb 10oz which earned him £2,000.

Third and fourth place went to Andy Oldham and Adam Wakelin, respectively. Last year’s champion Andy Bennett finished in fifth.
